BACKGROUND
Built to Share a Place That Has Always Mattered
Deer Island, New Brunswick is the kind of place that stays with you. Tucked in Passamaquoddy Bay, it offers sweeping ocean views, abundant wildlife, dramatic tides, and a pace of life that feels genuinely different from the mainland. For the team behind Northern Harbour Glamping, it’s a place that has always meant a great deal — and they wanted to share it.
Northern Harbour Glamping launched in 2026 with a single 7m Phoenix Dome set on a peaceful oceanfront property overlooking the bay. The vision was clear from the start: create an exceptional glamping experience that immerses guests in the natural beauty of Deer Island while providing the comfort and quality that modern travellers expect — and in doing so, encourage visitors to discover the island’s restaurants, shops, local attractions, and wider tourism community.
"More than just a place to stay, we hope we’re providing our guests with an experience they’ll remember long after they’ve gone home."

THE DOME & PROPERTY
Ocean Views as the Centrepiece
Every design decision at Northern Harbour Glamping was made with the ocean view in mind. The 7m Phoenix Dome sits on an insulated platform overlooking Passamaquoddy Bay, and the interior layout was intentionally planned to make the panoramic window the focal point of the guest experience. Sunrises, changing tides, local wildlife, and star-filled nights are all on display from inside the dome.

What Guests Are Saying in Year One
Northern Harbour Glamping is in its first season — and the early guest response has been overwhelmingly positive. Guests consistently describe the dome as peaceful, relaxing, and beautifully designed. The most common themes in feedback: the stunning ocean views, the cleanliness and attention to detail, and how comfortable and well-equipped the space feels for a glamping accommodation.
Many guests arrive expecting something rustic and leave genuinely surprised by the level of comfort and quality on offer. For a property in its debut season, this kind of consistent positive feedback reflects the care that went into the planning and build from the very beginning.

COMMUNITY & LOCAL TOURISM
More Than a Place to Stay
One of the founding intentions behind Northern Harbour Glamping was to bring visitors to Deer Island who would go on to explore the island itself — its restaurants, local shops, attractions, and natural environment. The dome is the draw, but the island is the destination.
This philosophy shapes everything from how the property is presented to guests through to the local touches inside the dome. Northern Harbour Glamping is not just a business; it’s an advocate for a part of New Brunswick that doesn’t always make it onto the tourist map — and one that richly deserves to be discovered.
LOOKING AHEAD
First Season, Long-Term Vision
The team at Northern Harbour Glamping approached their first season as exactly that — a learning season, focused on delivering an exceptional guest experience and building a strong foundation before expanding. With strong booking interest and consistently positive guest feedback already in hand, the longer-term plan includes adding a second Phoenix Dome to the property.
As a long-term investment, the ROI conversation is one they’re approaching thoughtfully. What the first season has already confirmed is that there is genuine demand for what they’ve built — and that the combination of a Phoenix Dome, an extraordinary setting, and a genuine commitment to guest experience creates something that stands out in Atlantic Canada’s growing glamping market.
ADVICE FOR FUTURE DOME OWNERS
What Northern Harbour Would Tell You
Plan your utilities and site prep as carefully as the dome itself
The structure is only one part of the project. Features like a heat pump, on-demand hot water, and a properly planned bathroom have made a measurable difference in guest satisfaction. Think through every utility connection before breaking ground.
Let the setting lead the design
If your property has a natural focal point — a view, a waterfront, a treeline — design the dome around it. Every layout decision at Northern Harbour Glamping was made to ensure guests could experience the ocean from inside the dome. That intentionality is what makes the experience memorable.
The dome draws people in. The experience brings them back.
Guests are often drawn initially by the novelty of staying in a dome. What turns first-time visitors into repeat guests — and what generates the kind of reviews that build a business — is the quality of the experience inside. Invest in both equally.
